ALLEGED MURDER.

CHARGE AGAINST A YOUNG WOMAN.

A young woman named Agnes Eliza Mophum, a domestic servant, 23 years of age, was arrested hy Detective-Sergeant Andrews, at Johnsonville, on Tuesday, upon a charge of having murdered her infant male, child on or about Bth June. The body of the child, with a. string round its neck, was found among some blackberry bushes near the township some days ago. The accused was brought before Mr E. Page, S. M., at the Wellington Magistrate's Court, yesterday, and, on the application of Chief Detective Ward, was remanded to appear in a week’s time.
