PARLIAMENT.
Sir Frederick Lang has been reelected Speaker of the House, a position he has held for the past seven vears.
The first business on the reassembling of the House after members had come from the Legislative Council was the attestation of all members of the new Parliament on Thursday. In batches of four or live they were called alphabetically by the Clerk (Mr E. W. Kane), and they severally swore “to be faithful and hear true allegiance” to His Majesty King George the Fifth. All members save four took the oath, and the four made an affirmation, the four being all Labour members. Messrs J. M'Cumbs (Lyttelton), F. N. Bart ram (Grey Lynn). K. J. Howard {Christchurch South), and P. Fraser (Wellington Central). The only irregularity' observed was that Dr. Thacker held the book in Ids left hand!
