PARLIAMENT OPENS TO-DAY.
The lirsj session of the new Parliament is to he opened this afternoon by commission. The House of Representatives will then proceed to elect its Speaker, and it is presumed that Sir I l '. W. Lang will again he appointed. To-morrow His Excellency the (loveriior-General i> to attend and read his speech, which, it is’ander■•tood, will deal more in detail with the programme of work for the session than was customary during the war. After the delivery of t’lo ftOvcrusr's speech, both the House and the {'Mined adjourn till Tuesday next. The customary resolutions in honour of, deceased legislators, of whom there are only two on this occasion, will then be pa.-.sed. niid both Houses will adjourn as a mark of respect to their memory.
The Address-in-!!cp!y, which is to hi' uii)v(;d 'by Mr F. I l '. Hockley (Rotorua) mill seconded by Mi' Dm id doncs (Kampoi). will, it is anticipated, lead to a debate lasting for some days.
