CARGO PILLAGING.
Dunedin, Juno 17. A further example of cargo pillaging Avas reported to-day. The steamer OpaAva discharged a large consignment of Liverpool cargo at Dunedin about three Avccks ago, and. almost every local firm to whom goods were consigned suffered considerably as the result of pillaging. The loss of goods represents about £1 per ton of the total amount of the cargo landed at Dunedin from this steamer. The agents have reeeived one claim for £4OG, another for £230, and a large number for smaller amounts. It is presumed that the goods Avere stolen before the vessel left England.
