MARRIAGE.
AUSTIN—BRYANT
A wedding which aroused considerable local interest look place at All Saints’ Church yesterday afternoon, when Robert Stanley (“Stan”), only son of the late Mr Herbert and Mrs Austin (Mrs C. F. Johnston), of Foxton, was united by the Rev. W. Raine to Phyllis Olga, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Bryant, of Foxton. The interior of the church was charmingly decorated by friends of the youngcouple, and a handsome bridal bell was suspended abo.ve the bridal party. Prior to the arrival of the bridal party the seating- accommodation of ,the church was crowded, and a large number could not gain admission to the ceremony. The bride entered the church accompanied by her father, and was attired in, a dress of ivory charmouse with overdress of georgette ornamented \vith pearl and silver trimmings, and court train lined with shell pink, veil arranged cap fashion, and wreath of orange blossoms and pearls. The bouquet was composed of while and pink chrysanthemums. The chief bridesmaid was Miss Vera Eddie ( Lower Hii(t), cousin of the bride, who wore primrose channelise with georgette overdress frilled to the waist, ornamented with gold trimmings, black panne velvet hat, with gold mounts, and carried a bouquet of gold chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. Miss Inez Austin, sister of the bridegroom, was attired in pale pink charraeuse with overdress of pale blue georgette, with beaded ornamentations, black panne velvet hat, and bouquet of primrose chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. Miss Joan Daniel), of Masterton, cousin of the bride, acted as train-bearer, and carried a basket of beautiful pink Howers and maiden hair fern, and wore a’ dainty ereame net frock with tiny frills to the waist, trimmed with pink I'ose buds and sash,- pink shoes and sucks, and net cap. Messrs Maurice Malone and Fred, Hyde (Auckland), R.F.C. -companions of the bridegroom, officiated as best man and
groomsman respectively. The service was fully choral, the bride being a valued member of the choir, and Miss Betty presided at the organ. After the ceremony the vicar delivered it short, appropriale address. . Upon leaving the church the bridal party were literally smothered with confetti, which continued to be showered upon them its the cars moved from the church. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a set of silver fox furs. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a dressing case. The bridesmaids each received it beautiful pendant of aquamarine and pearls. The little maid received a plain gold bangle with name engraved. The bride travelled in a navy tailored costume and saxe blue turban hat with oriental wheat ears and silver fox furs.
After the ceremony upwards of 200 guests were entertained at breakfast in the Masonic Hull by the bride’s parents. The interior of the hall was artistically decorated for the occasion, and the catering was carried out by Mr Walls. A beautiful wedding cake, surmounted by a K.F.C. badge in silver, adorned the centre of (he bridal table. The usual toasts were honoured and felicitous speeches made. The happy couple left by motor car after the breakfast, carrying away with them the best Avishes of all assembled. •
In the. evening the guests Avere entertained at a ball, Avhen a most enjoyable time was spent. Mr C. Bryant, brother of the bride, carried out the duties of master of ceremonies in a very capable •manner, , A large sheaf of telegrams from relatives and friends throughout the Dominion, conveying good Avishes, Avas received. After the honeymoon, Mr and Mrs Austin will take up their residence at Foxton. We join with the public of Foxton in wishing Mr and Mrs Austin health and happiness.
