BOROUGH FINANCES.
The Borough Treasurer reported at last night's Council, meeting as follows: —
During the month qf May the sum of £715 Os Pd was received, and placed to (he credit of accounts as under: District fund account £7OB 15s 2d, cemetery nccounl* £(i 5s od. The balances of the various accounts ai the Bank of Few Zealand at the 31st day of May, 1020, were a.-: follows: Imprest cash £lO, general £32-1 Is lid, gasworks £lO2 7s od, hospital and charitable aid £lO 17s 10d, library £lO HP l.Od, interest £33 8s 7d, all at debit, a total of £5(10 (is lid. The accounts in credit were: Cemetery £7G 14s 4d, reserves £BS 4s 4d, sanitation £143 Ids ,3d, and Town Hall £32 3s (id, total £337 18s sd. SUMMARY.
The Mayor said that the statement disclosed a very satisfactory' state of affairs. At this time last year the rale demands had not been issued, but this year the demands were out, and already £BOO in rates had been collected. This was due to the promptitude of the Town Clerk.
