SOCIAL AND PRESENTATION.
The Presbyterian schoolroom was the scene of a very pleasant gathering last night, when members of the congregation tendered a social evening and presentation to Miss Phyllis Bryant, as a mark of'the congregation s appreciation of the assistance she has willingly rendered in connection with the social side of church life, and in honour of her approaching wedding. The interior of the hall was tastefully, decorated with bunting and furnishings. The atTendanee was -a' representative one. The Kev. Mr Halliday presided. ‘At the conclusion of a very hue programme of instrumental, vocal and elocutionary items, Mr Hornhlow was called upon to make the presentation lo the guest. He said although the guest was a member of another church, this did not preclude them from doing her honour ou the eve of her approaching wedding, and to express in some tangible form their appreciation of her services on* the social side of church life. Miss Bryant had been a willing helper at all concerts held under the auspices of the Church, both ,jliere and in the outfields, during the past seven or eight years, and had added much to the enjoyment of such gatherings. At times her services had been given at persona| sacrifice, but she had never failed theti). In handing Miss Bryant a. handsome jardaniere on behalf of the congregation, Mr Hornhlow expressed the wish that God would grant her health and happiness in her married life. The gueslj who was received with an outburst of applause on coming forward to receive the gift, said what she had been able to do had always been a pleasure, and site thanked the congregation for (heir token of appreciation and the kind wishes expressed. During ihc evening the following contributed to the programme: Overture, Miss Evans; songs by Mrs Bullard, Mrs A, Daniell (Mastertou), Miss' Bryn 'll, Messrs Head, McColl and Henderson, recitations by Mrs Goflin, Miss Belli! Pear,,l,ll, and A! v Claris, and some humorous stories by the. Rev. Mr Halliday. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Pearson, Misses Claris. Signal and Eddie. At the conclusion, refreshments were handed round, and social intercourse indulged in.
