Exception was also taken to Sunday football on the park. The Mayor was invited to attend the meeting and hear the Society's views in reference to Easton Park. Mr Chrystall expressed his pleasure, that the Society had boon formed, and hoped it would have a successful career. The most pressing need was money, and he advocated the holding of an entertainment to raise funds. With reference to Easton Park, he stated that its area was four- and four-fifths acres. Mr Black had paid a visit to the ground ami stated 41011 it was large enough to provide a football ground, which would need two acres, tennis and croquet lawns, and leave ample space for beautifying purposes. In fact, to beautify the whole, and maintain it as it ought to be maintained would be'beyond the means of Box ton. Mr Chrystall then stated that the Council by a narrow majority has decided to grant only 1 temporary permission for football to be played in the park, but in all probability the question would be re-opened-at the Council meeting to be held that evening.
