OPENING NEW SCHOOL.
TUESDAY NEXT, AT 2 P.M
The Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister of Education, has notified the local Committee that he will perform the opening ceremony of the local State school on Tuesday afternoon. A meeting of the Committee was held yesterday to consider details in connection with the ceremony. The following arrangements were agreed upon: Children and public to as-
semble in front of the entrance at 2 p.m. National Anthem and chorus by children; introduction of the Minister by Chairman of Committee: opening ceremony and unveiling of memorial tablet in honour of ex-pupils who made the supreme sacrifice during the war; “Last post," by Captain Goffin: short speeches by Messrs Ed. Newman and J. A. Nash, M’s.P., and Board representative, inspection, of the school by the Minister, accompanied by the head teacher, after which the building will be open to public inspection. The Minister and visitors will be entertained at afternoon tea by the Committee. The Committee will also deputationise the Minister in reference to the acquisition of an extra piece of land adjoining the school property on the corner of Ravensworth Place and Duncan Street, to provide an increased playing area for the girls. Captain Goffin has consented to parade the Boy Scouts, who will provide music prior to the ceremony. A general invitation is extended to Ihe public to be present at the ceremony.
