FOXTON BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Bean-i Tying Society was held in the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. There were present: Mesdames IV Robinson, Me Murray, IJalliday, C. Robinson, Moore, j. H. Robinson, Miss Symons, Messrs Ferreau, Goffin, Halliday and Trueman. Correspondence from Mr Leigh Hunt was read, intimating that he may be able to visit Foxton about the middle of this mouth and give an address on town-planning. The following resolutions . were carried: —'‘That the Borough Council be written to, asking that the Society be notified of Mr Black’s ntpet visit to Foxton, that some of the members may have the opportunity of conferring with the Council and Mr Black concerning beautifying schemes.” “That Mr Leigh Hunt be written to, asking if he would advise the committee.as soon as possible of his proposed visit.” “That a, concert entertainment be arranged to raise funds.” “That a subcommittee consisting of the President, vice-president, and secretary he formed to draw up rules and report same to next meeting.” “That the" secretary of the Wellington Town-Planning Association be written to regarding affiliation fees and rules.” “That life members be enrolled for a fee of three guineas—each committee member to undertake to enrol at least two life-mem-bers.” The Society hopes to enrol a number of interested citizens are lifemembers, to .supplement ordinary annual subscriptions of 2s Cd by genera! members. All interested and intending members may pay their subscriptions or donations to the president, secretary, or any member of the committee. The next meeting was arranged for Monday, June 14th.
