PROPOSED NIGHTWATCHMAN.
At ibis morning's meeting or the Retailers’ Association a letter was read from the Town Clerk, advising Unit tlie Borough Council, at its last meeting, decided to contribute the sum of ten shillings a week tor a period of three months towards the cost of employing a nightwatchm.au to watch premises in the brick area, provided the Retailers’ Association would arrange to furnish the balance required, and would employ a man for (he work. There was considerable discussion, members generally being of opinion that if a nightwatelunan was lo he employed the whole of the property owners and tenants in the area Vo he served should eoutribuie towards the cost of same. After discussion, Messrs Balick-
Kam and Christie were appointed to i interview property owners and tenants and ascertain what amount of support the project: is likely to receive, and a special meeting of the Association will he held to consider their report.
