RAILWAY STRIKE.

COMMENCES MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. {Special to “Herald.”) Wellington, This Afternoon. A statement: is issued to-day that the locomotive men have decided to cease work at midnight 10-nighf, because they are receiving wages of lower purchasing power than those paid to men sintilarly employed in the English-speaking world. Every means has been exhausted by the Executive Council (o bring abont an amicable sell lenient. There lias been no predetermined action in striking at this juncture. It is the unanimous instruction of all branches to the Executive Council to instruct all branches to cease work immediately.
