ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY SCHOOL
The annual Children's Day in connection with All Saints’ Sunday school was hold on Sunday. Dor some weeks past the children, under the aide and painstaking' care ok Mr Betty, have been assiduously practising the special hymns, and unquestionably the children have been looking forward with great joy lo their day. At, both the morning and evening services (he children held the place of honour, and the congregation tvas ehanned with the singing of the happy children s voiees. Special mention must be made of (he way in which they rendered such items as “Happy \ uices, ■‘The Pilgrim Way.” “Summer has Come," “The Gentle Pain.”
Before addressing the congregation (he vicar spoke lo the children, in die morning on “The Bight Side, and in (lie evening on “The friendship of Jcmis." While speaking the adults the subjects were, “Our Responsibility to the Children’' and “A Child’s Education.“ The children looked forward particularly to their own service in the aflenioon, when die annual prize-giving look place. with (heir efforts. In present mg the prizes, the \hear reminded them that prizes were given for work done, cad spoke of the great prize ottered hv Jesus Christ for life's duly nobly done. This was the reaFp'i’ize, and Ike only prize worth winning. Prizes were awarded as follows: —■P.irls: Senior class, Gladsome Messena, Rita. Robinson, Violet Lawton, Eileen Irving, Olive'Procter. Class 1.. Dolly Lee, Bessie Crowe, Thelma Lee, Elsie (Aney, Mvrlle de Bidder. Cla-s 18. Kitty Coley, Ethel Irving. Boys: —Seniors, Cecil Francis, Melville Francis, Walter Irving. Class B, Allen Enrric, K, Admore, E. Ball, B. Ball, Boy Healey, P. Lockwood. Class If., (L Coley, B. Crowe, A. Francis, K. d 6 Bidder, Geo. Lockwood. Special prizes for church attendance were awarded to Gladsome Messena, Dol--I',' Lee and Geo. Lockwood. Mrs Crowe’s prize for the second highest number of marks in the ,rials’ section was given to Olive 'Procter. Mrs J, Ncwih's special pC/.cs for knowledge of the Catechism in Class I. (girls), were awarded to Kitty Coley and Hazel Bussell, while Mr Comptons prize for the best knowledge lor Class 1. (hoys) was given to A. Francis. Belle Pearson received Miss V. Crowe’s prize for best knowledge of Catechism in her class. Some lime ago Mr L. J. Fnrrie promised a silver medal to the best conducted boy in the school, which was won by W. Irving. in addition to the above, each infant received a picture hook or a large text card. The weather interfered considerably with the attendance at the evening service, hut notwithstanding that, the day was most successful, and thoroughly enjoyed hv all.
