THE PONSONBY MURDER.
Auckland, April 17. Charged with the murder of Augustus Braithwaitc, and robbery from the Ponsonby post office, on Alarcb 33th, Denis Gunn pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence. .He was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. The Magistrate, Mr -Wilson, SAL. who had also sat as coroner, before returning his Hading in that capacity, said he would give the accused an opportunity of going into the witness box and giving any evidence lie might wish.
Counsel said prisoner would elect not to give evidence. Mr Wilson (lien gave his finding as coroner. He said there was no doubt- that Mr Braithwaitc had come to his death by murder, ami there was no don hi that he was murdered in order that the murderer might obtain the keys of the post office. As a poison had already been committed for triad for the murder, he did not propose to carry his venbei as coroner beyond the limling of the actual cause of death. He lotind that Mr Braithwaitc had been murdered, and that afterwards his keys had been taken from Ids clothing.
