WATER AND DRAINAGE.
THE Mayor (Mr J. Chrystall) Ims lost no time in getting into touch with Mr (Mimic, the engineer who prepared the water and drainage schemes for the borough, the. loan proposals for which were rejected by the ratepayers some years ago. Mr Climie has been asked to confer with the Council with a view to revising his artesian scheme and flinging' it up-to-date. The conference will take place on Monday evening, in the Borough Council Chambers. The Mayor Ims advocated the artesian scheme from the outset, hut afforded the fullest: opportunity to those who favoured the gravitation scheme Irma the Shannon source of supply, to advance Ilia I project. 'Hie concensus of opinion now is that the artesian scheme is (lie most economical for our purposes. When the details have been settled between the engineer and Council a public meeting will be convened and the proposals submitted to ratepayers. On. that occasion we sincerely hope the loan will be carried by an overwhelming majority.
