Tlf? amount o£ gas manufactured during the month of March was 504,009 ft., which, with the amount in holder on March Ist, 15,000 ft., made a total of 519,900 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 177,200 ft., for cooking and healing 187,400 ft., and for power 88,300-ft., 21.500 was used at the
works and manager’s house, and there was 13,000 ft. iff the holder on April Ist. leaving 32,500 ft., representing a little over (>■’ per cent, of (he out pul, unaccounted for. Forty seven tons of coal was carbonised, vielding 10,740 ft. per ton. MANAGER’S REPORT.
The amount of gas manufactured for (he mouth shows a good increase as against Ihe previous month, and also for gas sold. 1 am si,ill getting a number of meters not registering, and services choked. In some eases 1 have had lo lix new pipes. The plant is working satisfactorily, providing we do not gel West porl-Stoeklon coal. 1 have to report that we saved all the meters al the recent lire, hut unfortunately some of the caps on the service pipe's melted with the heal, which accounts fur a large unaccounted for gas, Iml we eventually managed !o plug same'. 1 would also like to draw your attention, to, the fact that since I have been in your employ I have received no remttnera(iou for overtime worked at tires which have occurred, in which lime I have saved meters to (lie value of £lls, as follows: —Mouioa Buildings and Whyte’s Hotel £3O, Hamer ami others £35, Perronu ami others £SO, to say nothing of the gas that is saved.
