A wedding of local interest will take place at All Saints’ Church tomorroAV afternoon. Captain Got'tin will conduct the united service in the Presbyterian Church this evening. At last night’s Borough Council meeting the Inspector of Nuisances was instructed to lake proceedings against persons allowing rubbish to accumulate. Ross Co. intend creeling- up-to-date premises, and Avil! occupy the Avhole of the frontage available. The foiloAving householders .have consented to stand for election as school committeemen at next Monday night’s meeting of householders : Messrs P. W. Brown, (for many years a member of the Ballance School Committee), Claris, Jno. iros.s, HornbloAv (members of the present Committee), E. Martin (exmember of the Committee), and AV. Petrie, the Avell-kuoAvn flaxmilier. W'e believe severaWther members of the present Committee intend to seek re-election. Nominations close at SC o’clock on the night of the meeting. ‘

At last Aveek’s meeting of the Manawatu School Committees' Association, held at Palmerston North, it was decided to assist committees to have necessary improvements carried out at their schools, particularly in respect to -buildings and sanitary conveniences. The apathy shoAvil by householders and country settlers especially, in connection with the Avork of school committees was discussed at- some length. It was decided to circularise the schools ,in the district, snaking an appeal to them In co-operate with the Association by informing them -if their di-abilities.-, and so keeping in touch.

Cr. Coley, atMast night’s Council meeting, brought up the question of the purchase of a road grader for the borough. The one they had at present, was out-of-date, and was too unwieldy. He noticed that the Kairanga County^Council had recently purchased one that could be used with two horses. This class of machine would suit Foxton’s requirements admirably. It was decided to make inquiries from the Kairanga County Council with a view to the purchase of a similar machine.
