ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH.
SCHOOL PICNIC. The annual pichie in connection with All Saints’ Sunday School was hold on Saturday last, in the grounds of Mr W. E. Earlier, at Motui(i. Notwithstanding a keen wind, which was very unpleasant, a large 'number of children attended. There was much excitement when Mr C. Peterson’s and Mr W. Ross motor lorries turned up, and the children quickly scrambled a hoard,'determined to enjoy the ride as well as the picnic. On arrival at Motuiti the children at once dispersed to various parts of the commodious and pleasantly situated grounds, and soon bands of children were dotted here, and thjjrc, finding interest and amusement in wqys known to children of every age. Whilst the girls enjoyed their own particular games, the boys set to work to organise a cricket match, which resulted in an overwhelming victory for the team cap! a hied hy Huntley Koss, a guest A Mr Par her. Midday saw the children gathered in a very shady part of the garden, partaking of lunch. And how the, good filings quickly disappeared! helped .undoubtedly by copious draughts of Mr Btevenson’s mixed drinks. Lunch ended, a sports programme was drawn up, and many doughty athletes from 3 years old and upwards faced the starter. ■ Soon after 3 o’clock time was found for afternoon tea, after which there was just time fur a tug-of-war, and-a last look round the grounds, and when at 4.30 p.m. the lorries arrived for the homeward journey it was with dhlieuliy that the children were gathered together. Everyone, from the v.mngest to |ho eldest, had a very • enjoyable day, and the' unanimous opinion was that it was as enjoyable a picnic as has yet been" held. Many I hanks arc due to the Misses Harbor, in the absence of their parents, for (he very capable way thoy had made preparations for such a targe family, and (lie many nice things they provided, also (o Mr M. Koss and Mr C. Peterson for kindly conveying the children to and from Motuiti, and to all who contributed in any way to nmks the picnic as enjoyable and successful as it was. ■ The snorts programme resulted us follows; — Girls. —Infants, Jean Robinson Ist, Dorothy Moorhonse 2nd.
