THE PRINCE OF WALES.
A GREAT SEND-GFE. Loudon, March lb. Tile Prince of Wales has sailed for New Zealand. There was a tremendous outburst ot enthusiasm on his departure. Dense crowds lined Ihe streets, and cheered the Royal Party. The crush at Victoria Station was so great that the police were overwhelmed, and a tier the Prince had passed the crowd surged over the broad carriageway and along the platform, and w:Ts only checked when 2ft yards from the Prince's railway carriage by a body of Australian soldiers joining hands with the police. The Prince watched (he scene with amusement and interest, and then stepped into the open. This proved the signal for an enormous outburst of cheering, which lasted several minutes, the Prince meanwhile repeatedly saluting. The demonstration was renewed as tno train departed. Crowds cheered the train en route to Portsmouth, whore the Prince was tendered a civic reception. Therd was a great naval demonstration, the Victory and all the warships in port being gaily dressed. Salutes were tired and cruisers escorted the Renown out into the Channel. The Renown carries seven hundred bags of New Zealand mails. She will bo escorted by relays of vessels, picked up at various stations on the route. Two Scotland Yard detectives will accompany the Prince throughout the tour.
