VALEDICTORY.

Ail Saints' schoolroom was comfortably tilled on Thursday night; the occasion being a social svening to say “good-bye” to Mr and Mrs A. J. Kellow. The Rev. W. Raine was in the chair, and amongst those present were Mr J. Chrystall (Mayor), Mr M. R. Porreau (representing the School Committee). In opening the proceedings, the Chairman apologised for the absence of Air and Mrs A. S. Easton, Air and Mrs Renton, Mrs John Robinson, and Messrs J. M. Barr and R. Me Murray. The first item on the programme was ati orchestral item contributed by Mr'Betty’s orchestra, consisting of Miss Betty and Messrs Betty, Cabites, Walls, Graham and Moorman. This was followed hy items bv the following ladies and gentlemen; Mosdames Freeman and Raine, end Messrs Codder, Head, Moorhmise, Claris, and a duet by Air and Mrs Raine. At a suitable June lure in Ihe programme, the Chairman, on behalf of the vestry and congregation of Alb Saints' Church, made a presentati« to the guests of the evening of an entree dish and a set of military hair-brushes, as a token of their esteem and regard. In doing so, he spoke of the long connection of Mr and Mrs Kellow with the Church. Mr Kellow had been a member of the vestry for many years, during the last three of which lie had'occupied the highest position open to a member of the. church, that of vicar’s warden. He stated how valuable had been Ihe assistiiuce Mr Kellow had rendered to the , 11 »■<•!’, and how that he had been ;! iways ready and willing to place bis time and ability at the disposal of ihe vestry, and to co-operate with any movement that tendered to (lie welfare of the cause tncy all had Ui heart. He regretted very much their departure, and hoped Mr Kellow would render the same assistance at Foil ding as lie had done bore, in conclusion, lie wished them Cod-speed. Air Chrystall then, on behalf of Ihe Patriotic Society, presented Mi Kellow witli a silver cigarette ease, suitable inscribed, and a set of gold cuff-links and studs. He spoke of ihe L'Teat work and interest Mr Kellow bad shown with this work, and how i'aii.hfully he had tried to do Ins host on behalf of the returned men. Mr Perreaii followed, and handed Is Mr Kellow an oak box end silver ashtray, on behalf ot Ihe School Committee and slab. He si,lied that the relationship beiween Mr Kellow, the rest of the Committee, and the slat! had always been most mineable, and they were sorry lie was leaving them. Mr Kellow most feelingly replied, snd llmliked the different bodies for their kindness.
