A confession that he felt somewhat shy was made by the Prince of Wales when he presided at the annual meeting of the League of Mercy at St. James’ Palace. In opening his presidential address he remarked c —“J am afraid this is the lirst occasion on which I have done any duly in this position, and I mnsi ask von to excuse me it I read to yon the remainder of the remarks I have to make —a practice of which 1 frankly do not approve.”
