SCHOOL PICNIC.

The clerk of the wontlior arranged matters satisfactorily with “old Sol” for the school picnic, held on the Ash hurst Domain yesterday. The little ones and their parents, together with the teaching staff, hoarded the train in good humour, and bent on a good day’s outing. The Railway Department forwarded carriages which added much to the comfort of tlie railway Journey. En route the children were- supplied with lollies, etc., and Mr I*. Robinson officiated as strolling minstrel and maker of harmony in each carriage. Arrived on the grounds —an ideal spot for picnics—the youngsters sat down to refreshments and a hot cup of tea. In fa, cl, meals appeared to he on during the wholo day—abundance of food, fruit and soft drinks being supplied. The leaching staff, Committee, and otheq helpers, supervised a lengthy sports programme, which kept I lie little ones fully occupied during (he wholeperiod. Several parlies walked to 'ln; Gorge. The A nay Dam! rendered several selections during the day. The party arrived home without the slightest mishap to mar-Hie proceedings, tired but all unanimous iliat it was one of the happiest days they had ever spent. Thanks are due to all who assisted with the outing, and to a generous public for providing the funds.
