BOWLING.

Wo clip the following report of the final match in the Mainnvatn Centre’s ‘‘champion of champions” singles competition from the Palmerston Standard: The final between Seifert (Palmerston North-) and IV hibley (1 oxton). was a well fought out contest, and was a particularly fine exposition of the drawing game. Seifert opened the score sheet, and led throughout, but each head was keenly contested, and the scoring was remarkably small. On t)ie ninth head Seifert ied by 7 to 5, and then he gradually forged ahead, and was leading by 13 to 7 on the thirteenth head. Whibley slightly improved his position, and on the eighteenth head the card read: Seifert 14, Whibley 10. A single to Seifert on the nest head left Whibley live points behind with two heads to go. The latter made every- endeavour to get a two or a three, but the best he could manage was a single, and when the last head came to be played he was four down. In the endeavour to secure the possible he burnt the head three times, but failed in the last attempt, and the game ended: Seifert 15, Whibley 12. The game was as fine an exhibition of drawing as had been seen for a long time past, and there was not a bad head throughout. Seifert was in exceptionally fine form, although Whibley also gave an excellent display, the scoring mainly consisted of singles, and not more than two points were obtained on any end. Whibley put in several good drives, but Seifert laid only one firm shot throughout i he game, when he changed (he game from throe down to one up.
