HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
At last night's Council meeting the Mayor staled that about a month ago ho asked a member of the Manawatu County Council what was being done in connection with the reticulation, of the County for the hydro-electric scheme, and he now noticed that that body : was making' application for a loan for (his purpose, and had also applied for a license to: distribute electricity. He thought it would be a wise move for the Borough Council to approach the Manawatu County Council and ascertain if some arrangement could not be come to whereby Foxton would he able to join in this matter. The Kairanga County and the Palmerston North Borough wel’e combining for this purpose, and he suggested at once get ting into touch with both the Manawatu County and Public Works Department with the object of forming a Board of 'Control for the combined district. It was decided to. immediately communicate with the Public Works .Department, Manawatu County Council, and the Shannon Borough Council with the object, of forming a board for this portion of the district.
