Court, when Henry oGorge Short, eontraetor, Iluntly, was charged that being a person who purchased chattels with moneys received by way of assistance under the Kepalrialiou Act. he did sell the same without consent in writing of Ihe officers ot the liepat rla lion Department. Heieiolant pleaded guilty, but claimed that the. offence was more one of carelessness than anything else. Counsel for the Department said del umlaut had been granted £250 to purchase
a currier’s plant. He did not make a .success of the business, and soldi one. of (he horses. The Department had no desire to press for a penally, Iml wished the ease lo act as a warning. -Defendant was eonvieled and ordered to come up tor sentence if called upon within six monliis, lie was aDo ordered to pay .fid for the horse within a week.
