CHRISTCHURCH SENSATION.
Christchurch, -Inn. 12. ■ A motori.M driving towards the city on Saturday night with his wife observed a man wSth a shotgun holding up three other persons on the load. The motorist was allowed to pass after a parley, and made a dash for the Addington police station, where he picked up Sergeant Stewart and a constable. When the party arrived on the scene the hold-up was still in pru'gress. The constable presented an automatic revolver at the man with the gun, and Sergeant Stewart rushed in and grappled with him. A terrific struggle ensued, but the man was finally overpowered and ' handcuffed. ■ His name was Albert 3tdwaro Niehol, 40 years of age. : " Accused was charged at the Wyy ihtrate’s ' Court this morning with pointing a loaded shojgun at l\dlisun Ifanu with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and remanded. Hann is brother-in-law to Xichol, and it is understood that a family dispute caused the trouble, and one of the party held up was Kami's wife, a sister of Xichol.
