APPALLING FIGURES. M. Louis Maris, the Reporter of the Public Commission of the Chamber, publishes the Official figures of the losses of the Allied armies during the war up to November, 1918. These figures are as follows:

Tiie wounded in the French army numbered 2,800,000. According to the report of M. Maris, the expenses of the war to France amounted to 159,000,000,0(10 francs (£0,300,000,000), In view of the splendid service randcrod to the Allies by Serbia from the very beginning of this war, it is remarkable that her total of fatal casualties should he less than those of Roumania. In regard to the French casualties it may be noted that they include those of her coloured colonial troops, which, especially in the last year of the war, were very heavy.

Belgium 44,000 U.S.A ... 114,000 Croat Britain . ■ ... 860,000 Greece 12,000 Italy ... 494,00g t Roumania ... 400,000 Serbia ... 360,000 Franco ... 1,308,515
