A match for the Chib Pius was played on the local green last nig'ht, when the challengers (Roore and F. Wbibley (s) defeated the holders (Stevenson and Christie (s) by 23 points to 18, after a most interesting game. A feature of the match was (he large number of dead heads. The last few beads were played in the dusk,-matches being used to locate the “kitty.” In ihe Wellington i mini anion I. .Maxwell Walker’s Ponsonhy rink and E. ,1. Hill's To Hiwi team are left in !he Him!, which will be played at Wellington when (lie two teams velum from the championship tournament at Christchurch. Sixteen rinks took part in the Manawalu Centre's New Year tournament. Eight rounds were played, and Jolly, Nash and Ramsay, all of the Palmerston Club, each won seven games and lost one. In the semifinal Ramsay beat Nash by one point, and the final was (bayed yesterday afternoon, when Jolly's team defeated Ramsay’s rink by 28 points to 14,
