STATE SCHOOL.
PRIZE-GIVING. The breaking-up and prize-giving ceremony in connection with the local State school took place in the Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon. There was a good attendance of parents. The Mayor (Air J. Chrystall) distributed the prizes, and delivered a short address. The school choir, under the leadership of Mr Gabites, contributed several' vocal items, the voices being well balanced and the harmony good. The head teacher (Mr Currie) read a lengthy report covering the work done during the year, and Mr Hornblow delivered a short address. At the conclusion, Mr Kcllow, who presided, called for cheers for (he stall and cheers were also given for Urn Committee and Mayor. The following is the complete prize list: —
