CROQUET.

A .match for the Gold Shirs was played on the local lawn on Thursday afternoon between Foxton (holders) and Levin (challengers). The Foxton players Avere Mrs Bryant ( avlio took the place of Mrs Evans) and Mrs Perreau, and the challengers Avere Mrs Kirk and Miss Whittaker. The lawn Avas in perfect order, and the game throughout Avas very (dose and interesting. In the early part the visitors had a slight lead, but toAvards the end the holders overhauled them,and eventually Avon by six points. A number of visitors from Levin accompanied the challengers, and there was a large number of local players present. The play throughout was particularly good.
