THE GAS WORKS.

OCTOBER WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the mouth of October was 403,700 feet, which, with the amount in holder on. October Ist, 12,000 ft., made, at total of 475,700 ft. The amount sol<E*to consumers for lighting was 171,700 ft., for. cooking and heating 163,200 ft., and for power 72,900 ft., 22,000 ft. was used at the works and manager’s house, and there was 17,000 ft. in the holder on November Ist, leaving 28,900 ft.,’representing six per cent, of the output, unaccounted for. Forty-five tuns of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,300 ft. per ton.

MANAGER’S REPORT,

The amount of gas manufactured for the month of October shows a slight decrease as compared with the previous month. Re (he main that supplied the old Star Mill: I have made satisfactory arrangements to make use of same to supply Mr W. Petrie’s mill. The car’bonising plant is working satisfactorily, with the exception of one retort, which we had to put a new buck in.
