SCHOOL ACCIDENT.

Referring to the accident which ‘happened to a pupil at the local State School during the luncheon recess last week, the head teacher, his report to the School Committee last night, states that the accident was caused through the pupil’s disobedience. After the accident the child was conveyed to her parents’ home and medical assistance summoned. In respect to supervision during recess periods, the head teacher says that the supervision organisation provides for the supervision of the main ground as well as for the others where children assemble at lunch time. He desired to make this clear, as .it had been slated in the “Herald,” in reply to an anonymous correspondent, that previous to the disorgar isation caused by the fire the supervision routine was observed, leaves the impression that owing to the main ground not being used to the same extent ns before, no. oversight is exercised there. That is not so, as arrangements are made for recess supervision wherever children are assembled for

play. Mr Hornblow said he was pleased to know that recess supervision was exercised during the present scattered class arrangements, and it was apparent that no blame for the accident could be attached to the staff or contractors.
