SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs Hornldow, Parkin, Perreau, Robinson, McM.urray, Alexander, and tiie head teacher.
Mr Perreau reported that the Honours Board, in memory of exscholars who had paid the supreme sacrifice, had arrived. Resolved to hold over its erection and unveiling until a later dale, ft was also reported that tiles containing the photos of leading soldiers and statesmen had arrived for insulting in the wall. Correspondence was read from the Boat'd re suitable books Tor the library upon which subsidy could be claimed. A letter was read from the Borough Council notifying a reduction of the sanitary charge. Resolved to thank the Council for the concession. The head teacher was authorised to spend £l2 on prizes. Resolved tha.b a sports and picnic* be held in the,Victoria Park on December 17th, the day prior to “breaking up.” The purchase of a weather-vane was left in (he hands of the head teacher. Messrs Hornblow and P. Robinson were thanked for donations of a cricket bat and ball respectively, and the head teacher was authorised to expend balance of grant authorised for tennis material for cricket balls. It was decided to top-dress the tennis court. On the suggestion of the head teacher, it was decided to adopt as the school motto “Each for All,” The head teacher’s report was read and adopted. Accounts were passed for payment, and Messrs McMnrray and P. Robinson appointed visitors for the month.
