BAPTISM BY IMMERSION.
ITIF MUCH-DISCUSSED AUCK-
LAND CASE
Auckland, Oct. 1 !■ The Auckland Presbytery decided to-night to refer (he nmeh-discnsscd case of the Kev, A. A. Murray in regard to Ins recent baptism by immersion by a Baptistminister to the General Assembly for judgment, on the grounds that in such- case of: dhTiculty the Assembly, and not the Presbytery, should decide. Further, (hat owing to the feeling in-regard lo Mr Murray, both in the Presby-|m-y and in the community, a change of venue is desirable. A conference was recently held between the Presbytery committee and Air Murray, as a result ot; which the committee reported (bat from now on Air Alurray could not see his way to baptise infants, but •will not put any obstacle in the way of those who wish baptism tor their infantand is prepared to arrange with a brother-minister to officiate. Air Alurray wishes to have the liberty to baptise by immersion anyone who has been sprinkled in infancy and who now considers that baptism invalid. Infant baptism is not valid to''Mr Alurray, but be believes it is valid to those who believe m it.
