PROPRIETORS TO BE PROSECUTED.
•At last night’s Council meeting the Mayor said Constable Woods had showii him a letter from the Inspector of Police, at Palmerston North, in which it was recommended that the Council get the Borough Solicitor to take action against the proprietors of the Royal Theatre for showing pictures in.an unlicensed building. He moved, and Cr. McMurray seconded, tjiat acting on the •advice of the Police Department, the Borough Solicitor be instructed to take action against .Messrs Hamer and Son for showing pictures f ll an unlicensed building. The Mayor said they were not going to allow any one ratepayer to defy the Council. If Councillors were not prepared to uphold the laws they were not lit to sit at the Council. The motion was carried.
