PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The’quarterly meeting' of the district Committee of the above church was held at (den Oroua yesterday. Present: Ivev. Thos. Halliday (moderator), Messrs W. Kenton, Jno. B oss, Horn blow (Foxton), IT. Wilton ( Hangiotu), ’W. Amon and Farmer (Glen Oroua). The Kev. Mr McAra was also in attendance. Prior to business being transacted, a formal welcome was extended to the new moderator, who brielly thanked members for their kind expressions. A’ lengthy discussion took place upon the advisability of holding night sendees' in the outfields, instead of in the afternoon. It was 'finally decided Iha I Hie matter be left in the hands of! the minister to arrange, provided suitable supply could be obtained. It was recommended that delegates urge upon their committees the necessity of adopting the envelope system of giving. Resolved that one Sunday in each year be set apart as a Ijianksoffering day. It was dec idjd to, as far as possible, without prejudicing the social side of church Jile, to discontinue sales of work and oilier moans of raising money for church purposes.- The treasurer’s 'statement was submitted, which disclosed a .satisfactory stale of affairs. It was decided to take up a collection once a quarter to meet the expenses of motor ear. Accounts were passed for payment. The next meeting is to he held at Hangiotu,
