BOWLING.
The official opening of the Foxton bowling green and croquet lawn will take place next Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, when it is expected a record number of visitors will be present. So far the following clubs have signified their intention of being represented;—Otaki, Levin, Shannon, Palmerston North, Terrace End and Feilding. ('coquet players will also be in attendance from Otaki, Levin, Longimrn, and Feilding.
•Since the dose of last season some fairly extensive improvements have been made to the grounds and buildings. The verandah 'em the pavilion lias mneh improved (he appearance and usefulness of the building, and in this conned ion the local green is now probably belter equipped than any club of its size In (be district. Twenty-four lockers have been erected in the bowlers' room, which will be let to members at an annual fee for keeping (heir bowls, shoes, etc., in. The rustic summer-house is now completed, and is equipped with seats and tallies, and will no doubt be a very popular place*' for partaking of afternoon lea. Both the bowling green and croquet lawn were (opdressed, and are looking well, and should be in splendid order for opening day. The membership of the Club, both bowlers and croquet pla.Vers, is steadily increasing, and the future prospeds are particularly good. The Fcilding bowling green i- to be opened on Saturday next. The Foxton Club will be represented by one rink.
