S.A. SELF-DENIAL APPEAL.
The annual Self-denial appeal of the Salvation Army is being made 'just now, and it is hoped that the people of Foxton will show their appreciation of the untiring efforts of the various officers who have laboured here from tithe.to time, and also of the useful work the Army is doiim in this Dominion. Three hundred and fifty children are being eared for by the Army, many -of whom are orphans and semi-orph-ans, and with the branches of Rescue Work, Prison Gate work, etc., entails an annual expendilvue of several thousands of pounds. Quite recently the Americans showed tlteir gratitude to the. Salvation Army by subscribing the sum of £3,000,000, which is in itself a sign of the esteem Uncle Sam has for the Army. Captain Coffin, we hope, will have a hearty response to the annual appeal.
