NAVAL FUTURE.

POWER OF BRITAIN AND AMERICA. London, Sept. 13. Lord Fisher declares that the problem of designing a new British Navy immune from attacks from the air, and combining economy in construction with the highest efficiency, and the continuous use of fresh ideas, is associated with the question: “Where will the future battleground be,.and with whom will we light ! Is it the Chinese or the Japanese?” Personally, he expects another Eastern exodus to Europe, and a simultaneous movement westwards across the Pacific, that ocean which holds (he future. “Every fourth baby born in the world,” he says, “is a Chinese.” After considering America’s ambitions and internal strength, and the historical proofs of (lie liability of kinsmen to quarrel, Lord Fisher concludes that a British-American light is inconceivable, and asks, cannot American and English navies dominate the world at any time? They simply have to tell all the others “to build no more, or we will light you here and now.”
