COAL SHORTAGE.
MORE INFORMATION WANTED. Mr R. Semple gave notice in the House of Representatives yesterday to move for a return showing: (1) The number of men employed in the coal mines in 1919, as compared with 1917 and 1918; (2) the amount of coal per head produced in 1919 and in 1917 and 1918 respectively; and (3) the number of undeveloped coal leases held by private individuals or companies, the conditions on which they are held, and the amount paid annually for such leases to the State.
