FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of members of the Poxton Bowling Club was held last night. There wore 18 members in attendance, and the president (Mr F. D. Whibley) occupied the chair. Apologies for absence were received from several members. The annual report (already published) and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The balancesheet disclosed a very satisfactory position. The * receipts for the year totalled £139 Is Od, The expenditure amounted to £l3O Is 7d, the chief items being; Caretaker £36, properly improvements £35 Os 9d, soil* and cartage £7 2s i)d, interest, etc., £8 Is 6d, rates £6 Is 6d, and telephone £5. ' Member's generally expressed the opinion that the Club was in a very satisfactory position both financially and otherwise, and everything pointed to the progress being continued. The election of president then took place, Dr. Mandl being unanimously elected to the position for the coming season. In vacating the chair the retiring president thanked the Committee and members for their assistance during the past season, and said he felt sure that the new president would receive similar treatment. Good progress had been made during the year; the overdraft had been reduced, and the Club’s property improved by the erection of a verandah to the pavilion and a rustic snmnforhonse. The green and croquet lawn had also received attention, and altogether the year’s working had been most successful.

Hr. Mandl, in taking the chair, thanked members for electing him to the position of president, and said he would do his best to further the interests of the Club in every way.

Other officers were elected as follows :—Vice-Presidents, Messrs A. Hawke, F. H, Whiblcy, and Rev. W. Kaine; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Christie (re-elected); committee, Messrs IV. Nye and Hoove; auditor, Mr F. Symes (re-elected) ; delegates to Centre, Messrs L. Freeman and F. D. Whibley.

Mr \V. Nye, was unanimously re-ek-fled green superintendent. Messrs D. Whlbley, A. Hawke -and W. Nye were elected as coaches for (lie new players. Special mention was made of the great amount of work done by Mr VV. Nye in connection .with the building; of the verandah, also Mr Admore for the carrying out of the painting free of charge, Mr McColl for free labour on roof. A special vote of thanks was passed to these gentlemen for their work'. The following new members were elected: —Messrs A. Alsop, J. /B. Cosgrove, C. M. Cronquest, D. 0. Christie, P. Easton, E. Fogd.cn, IT. C. Coffin, L. G. Fiercer, E. Parkin, FI. E. Perreau, J. N. Rider, P. Rimmer, G. Tennant, A. N. Smith, G. T. Woodroofe, and J. Walls.

An amendment was made to rule 4 as follows: —The Club shall consist of two classes of mouthers —ordinary and life —who shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of membership, , A motion was passed suggesting to the new Committee to give consideration to the question of holding a social on the evening of opening day. *

A pair of bowks presented by Fir T. Rimmer were allotted for a competition for first year players.

Other routine business was transacted, and the meeting terminated after passing a vote of thanks to the chair.
