“SLEEPING SICKNESS."
A PALMERSTON VICTIM. Mr Robert Harrison, bricklayer, of Palmerston North, died at. the district hospital from “lethargic encephalitis,” or, as the disease is more commonly known, sleeping sickness. Deceased was admitted to the hospital on June 3rd, and since his admission he has slept, with the exception of short, intervals, for practically the whole time. ■ The disease is new to this district, there having been only one case reported in Palmerston North previously—that of a child who died a few weeks ago. Mr Harrison was a much respected resident, who came to Palmerston, from Yorkshire (England) about ten years ago, and set up in the building trade. His death occurred at the comparatively early age of 39 years. He leaves a widow and two young children to mourn their loss. —Standard.
