MAORI TRAGEDY.

Auckland, Aug. 17. Further details of the Oramahoe tragedy were telegraphed to-day by a Herald reporter. Apparently Humaera Haratu, an old Maori aged sixty v years, lived alone with a stepsister, Mary Ann Takimoana, aged seventy, in an isolated wharc on the hillside. The old couple were drinking tea prior to retiring on Thursday night, when they heard heavy steps descending the hill approaching the entrance to the whare. The stranger called out “Kin Ora,” and Iliumera went out and invited him to have a cup of tea. The reply was a Indict in the left arm, probably from a revolver.
