PRINCE OF WALES’ TOUR.

Ottawa, Aug. 15. ■ The Prince,of Wales has landed at St. John, New Brunswick. The crowded streets were gaily decorated. Responding to an address of welcome, the Prince alluded to.St. John as a city of loyalists. He referred to his war service with the Canadians. Comradeship in the field was the surest road to understanding between various portions of the Empire. British principles and ideals, sharply outlined in the burning light of a supreme emergency, had stood the test. New York, Aug. 16. Special correspondents, describing the reception accorded to the Prince of Wales at St. John, comment in glowing terms on the way the Prince’s democracy won the hearts of the Canadians. The New York World’s corresppondent states: The Prince acknowledged his reception with dignity and poise, despite a certain youthful shyness. The Canadians noted how the Prince readily mixed with all classes. The Times says; Everybody was impressed with the Prince’s democracy and frank appreciation of the welcome. New York papers comment that the Prince of Wales will receive the heartiest reception on his visit to New York, London, July 23. The Foreign Office announces that during his visit to New York as the guest of the American nation, the Prince of Wales will live on board the battleship Renown.

The Prince will also visit Washington. The Prince will visit Newfoundland, Now Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, and then the important centres in the maritime provinces, ending at Quebec. He will travel overland to the north of the Great Lake system, through the silver mining region and grain districts, across the Rockies to British Columbia, re-crossing Canada to Monteral. The trip will include a brief visit to the United States, and the Prince will return to London by the middle of November.
