The hoys and girls connected with .Mrs Grant’s Guild, together Avith parents and friends, spent: a most enjoyable time at a “hard-up” social in the Masonic Hall on Thursday evening last. The affair was Avellaltended, about 60 children being present. The evening Avas spent in games, compel it ions, hal -trimming, and dancing. Misses M. Collins and McMurray assisted to keep Hie children amused, Avhile Air Christie officiated as iM.C. Alasler Arthur Grant was the Avinfier of (ho guessing competition, for Avhich three were equal, each guessing 14 out of 15 answers. Miss Owen Avas aAvarded the prize for the most original dress, the material of Avhich was scrim, Avith hat to match. Alas ter Poaa'cll won the prize for boy’s dross, Avhich avus a mass of patchwork, Avith half a football case for a hat. His make-up avus very funny. Aliss Spring won a prize in another guessing competition. Alasler Healey won Hie ha I-trimming competition. The judging avus carried out by Airs Aloorhousc. The supper arrangements Avere supervised by Mesdamcs Rain, Moorhouse, Freeman, Burr, Symons, Spring, Adinore, and Christie. The music Avas supplied by Airs Radio,' Misses Collins, McAlurray and Burr. At Hie (‘(inclusion, three cheers were given for Airs Grant, avlio was responsible for such an enjojyalile evening.
