METHODIST CHURCH.

An old-fashioned lea meeting in eonneetion with the local Methodist anniversary was held in the Town Hall supper-room last evening. The large tallies fairly groaned beneath the weight of the good things provided by the lady members of the congregation. All the tables were tastefully decorated, and in this connection special mention must be made of the “men’s table.” The good things set out on this table and the artistic decorations were a credit to the men, who also attended to the wants of patrons. The men also provided an extra in the shape of fruit salad, but the supply was not equal to the demand. Those in charge of the tables were as follows; —Mrs Harding, assisted by Misses Chalk and Scadden; Mrs Oxley, assisted by Misses Oxley and Potts; Miss Signal and Mrs Cowley;Misses 'Walker, Evans and Hargreaves; Mrs L, Bullard, Misses Honore and Ruback, and the men’s table, Messrs H. Osborne, Waimvright and L. Bullard. There was a good gathering in the church for the final meeting, the Rev. Mr Harding presiding. The edioir (under the leadership of Mr H. Osborne) rendered several anthems. Songs were contributed by Mr Gilbert (Levin), Mrs Bullard, and monologues by Mesdames Waimvright and Collin. The accompaniments were played by Miss Honore, and an orchestra consisting of Messrs Ebbett, Mormon and Mrs Chalk accompanied the choir. Captain Goffin delivered a short address. Votes of thanks were accorded to all who had in any way assisted to make the anniversary a success.
