PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The annual meeting of'the Foxton Presbyterian Church was held last night. The Rev. Mr Evans, interim moderator of the charge, presided over a good attendance, including representatives from Rangiotu. The annual . balance-sheet was read by the treasurer, Mr Renton, and disclosed that upwards of £501) had been raised by the charge during the year. The session report dealing with the spiritual side of the church, was also read and adopted, as was the report of the Ladies’ Guild. Complimentary references wei’o made by several speakers to the progress of the church in all departments during the year, and vot - es of thanks were passed to officebearers, Sabbath school teachers, choirmaster, choir and organists. The meeting then discussed filling the vacancy, and after deciding the stipend to be paid, means of locomotion and removal expenses, unanimously agreed to call the Rev. Thomas Halliday, of Lansdownc, Masterton. The call was then read, and signed by all present. A committee, consisting of Messrs Wilton, Speirs, Hornblow and Farmer, was set up to take charge of the call, and present same to Presbytery. After the meeting had concluded, supper was served by the ladies.
