WHITE PINE SUPPLY.
Dairy farmers, to whom white pine is an important wood, will he interested in a reference made concerning - that timber by the chairman of the National Dairy Association (Mr A. Morton) at the association’s annual meeting at Palmerston North recently. The difficulties connected with the white pine industry, he said, had not much decreased, and other timbers had to be used for cheese packing. Regulations governing the export of timber had been made by the Government, and an improvement had resulted, and it was evident that for some lime ahead there would be a better state of affairs. The object of growing some timber to replace the diminishing white pint? was important, and the sooner steps were taken to grow a substitute the better it would be for the industry. The white pine supply could not last much longer whatever care was taken to conserve it.
