LOST ON THE TARARUAS.
WELLINGTON PARTY MISSING. Messrs Von Haast, the wellknown solicitor of Wellington, F. W, Vosseler, who, with Mr Fcild, M.P., was largely instrumental in forming the Tararua Club, and a seventeen-year-old lad named Tucker, left Wellington on Saturday for Woodside with the intention of journeying across the, ranges to Otaki. They hoped to reach Alpha hut on Saturday night, and Otaki on Sunday, but up to the present nothing has been heard of them, and there are fears that the party may have lost their way, owing to heavj’ rains. They had taken no tent, but, luckily, are well supplied with food. Provided nothing is heard of the trio, an Otaki party, to be headed by Messrs W. H. Field, Mr Aston and Professor Hunter, will be formed, and will leave at the earliest possible moment. The Gorge settlers have been communicated with, and have offered all possible assistance. One party has already left Greytown to scour the hills.
