BEACH IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
The Foxton Beach Improvement: Committee, M’hich Inns done good M'ork in the past in effecting improvements in order to p’opnlarise the local seaside resort, are now endeavouring to raise further funds for this object. Last year, in addition to other improvements carried out, a hall M’as erected, and to enable this to be done, four committeemen guaranteed- £SO between them, and this amount is still owing. It is not proposed to use donations to wipe off the debt on the hall, but to plant more trees and fence in and improve the recreation ground.
The statement of receipts and expenditure for (he past year sliom’s that at the commencement of the year there muis a credit halanee of £33 Ms lid, and (he receipts tvere as follows: —Hal! receipts, per Mr Harwood, £l9 7s 8d; piano fund, per Mrs McMurrny, £5 Ss 0d; sports, £l3 1-1 s lOd; concert, per Mrs Grant, £8 Os Od; donations, £7 9s (id; interest, £1 Is Od; total, £B9 4s -Id. The expenditure wasfTTall, £llO ISs 3Od (made up of; timber £7B, iron, nails, etc., £lB 14s -Id, sashes ami Weights £8 2s 7d, paint £3 Ss 3d, cartage £4 10s Od, sundries £4 3s 8d); advertising, 18s; insurance £1 3s Od; tree planting and freight, £1 15s Od; sigmvriting, £2 5s Od; sundries, £1 9s 2d; 'leaving a balance, in Post Office,, including Piano Fund £5 8s Od, of £l4 14s Kiel.
The balance, exclusive of the Piano Fund, has since been expended in paint for ball and photographs to'advcrtise the Beach in neighbouring towns.
